Avenue to Learn

McMaster’s Course Management System: Avenue to Learn

Each course requires an A2L course shell. Course shells should be activated for each course, at the latest, one week prior to the beginning of the semester. Once the course shell request has been granted (a process which can take up to three days), the course shell will be automatically populated with the class list of all currently registered students.? Details regarding managing the various component of the course shell can be found in Avenue to Learn Knowledge Base: https://avenuehelp.mcmaster.ca/exec/

Avenue to Learn is used to communicate with students, provide students access to course outlines, assignments, grades, etc. It allows students a means to communicate with each other, submit assignments, complete surveys, etc. The platform also allows for the development and implementation of online quizzes and the insertion of video recorded lectures. Here are the basics to get you started.

  • Taylor (pnb@mcmaster.ca) can set up shells
    • If you would like assistance setting up your course shell/design please add Taylor (SMITHTA3) to the course as an instructor
    • It is recommended that sessional faculty add Taylor in case progress reports are required in future.
      • This is often requested via the Registrars Office.
