Bio: Daphne Maurer is a world-renowned developmental psychologist. She joined McMaster University as an Assistant Professor in 1973, starting her lab and recruiting infant subjects in an age with few female professors and no Internet. Two books and hundreds of papers later, in June 2024, she was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada—Canada’s equivalent of a knighthood—for her contributions in the field of developmental psychology and advocacy for early visual screening. She will reflect on her career’s trajectory and what she learned about development.
