Research Area
James studies how distributions of infraspecific behavioral variation emerge and whether these trait distributions structure food webs and ecosystems. This work broadly entails probing the role consistent individual behavioral differences (animal personality) play in species interactions using a plethora of focal organisms, from spiders to praying mantises to ants to sea urchins.
